Are we missing something here? Have we forgotten about one very important issue that seems to have been left behind? Can relate a portion of our economic crunch to this issue?
What happened to the illegal immigration issue? I know that it just didn't get up and walk away back south of the boarder. Neither candidate has said word one on this growing and out of hand issue. How does this affect our nation's economy?
Well here's just one example.
On October 2, 2008, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger penned an
official letter to Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson. In this letter Schwarzenegger writes:
On October 3, this story shows up in the
Los Angeles Times:
I think it is safe to say that California's lax approach in handling illegal immigrants plays a large roll in that state's financial shortfalls/ California hosts the largest population of illegals in the nation.
Hey, Mr. Arnold, why don't you attempt to lead the nation in cracking down on illegals and we wouldn't feel so bad about helping you out. Your state's ultra liberal ways are catching up to you. Keep handing out healthcare and other social services to those who are here illegally. Continue to give these people handouts. The true US citizens of your state will suffer as a consequence of your sanctuary cities.
The time has come to clean house. Then, and only them, will this great nation be able to get back on track to true financial stability.
Our economic situation is not just a Wall St. induced problem, it's a $300 billion a year illegal immigration problem as well.
